Best Comedy – British Podcast Awards 2018 – Bronze Award
“One of the most fundamentally kind and funny podcasts in Britain” Radio Times**
In a time when we’re all threatened by a rhetoric of hate from the people in power A Gay and a NonGay challenges many of our differences head on and resolves that no matter who you are, or what you’re into (Bruce Springsteen or Britney), love is love and gays and nongays can be friends.
A Gay & A NonGay was born 2 years ago and has steadily grown to become the UK’s leading LGBTQ+ podcast. Released weekly James Barr and Dan Hudson tackle issues from day to day life, differences in perceptions, homophobia, coming out, mental health and lighter topics like dating and Dan learning all about douching! It’s always been our mission to talk openly, promote equality, freedom and friendship all whilst making our listeners laugh – and as the U.K celebrates 50 years since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality it’s more important than ever to celebrate ourselves openly. We live in a diverse and multicultural world yet a show like this doesn’t currently exist on a traditional broadcast station. Podcasting was the perfect place for us and we’re hugely passionate about the medium and its ability to connect with new friends and family at home and across the world. It’s our aim to send out a message of hope and inclusion to everyone, wherever you are.
With press from MTV, The Guardian, Radio Times & TimeOut, plus iTunes & Spotify features in both the UK & USA co-hosts James Barr and Dan Hudson regularly hit number one on iTunes sexuality chart. The weekly podcast has also landed on Virgin Atlantic’s in flight entertainment system Vera and we’ll have live shows at both Brighton & Edinburgh Fringe festivals in 2018.
New episodes are released Wed morning at 6AM (UK time) and the show is produced by Talia Kraines.
